Can you give power of attorney to an AI agent?

FX-12 STRUCT-05 gate: INFO cast: Quinn ๐ŸŸก#2

Quinn, counsel for the firm, asked whether she could grant power of attorney to the agent Rupert so he could run a workflow unsupervised. Power of attorney runs to a person the law recognizes, and software has none โ€” Rupert can no more hold a grant of authority than a calculator can hold a deed. So the structure is built the other way. A named human sits as Manager of the Wyoming series, and Rupert is the tool that Manager uses. Rupert acts only inside capped authority โ€” a defined dollar ceiling, a defined task โ€” and where a document needs ink, he signs as an authorized signer, never as a principal in his own right. The line of accountability runs through the agent and stops at the human Manager. Rupert moves the work; the Manager answers for it.

MoralYou can't give power of attorney to software; a named human Manager uses the agent as a tool, and accountability ends at that human.

What this does not mean. This shows who holds authority and where accountability lands. It does not promise the manager structure made Quinn safe, protected the firm, or shielded anyone from a claim โ€” that depends on observed formalities, not on naming a Manager.
